Box Score PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan tennis team handed The College of Saint Rose a 9-0 shutout Monday afternoon in non-conference action at Mendon Racquet Club.
The Golden Knights fell to 2-11 overall, and the Redhawks improved to 5-6.
Doubles duos freshman KeriAnn Mahoney and senior Megan Stacklum, and freshman Alanna Bergmann and junior Maria Malafronte both dropped 8-2 decisions at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Juniors Isabela Cubillos and Paige Southwick suffered an 8-1 loss at No. 1.
Cubillos battled in singles, but fell 7-6, 6-1 at first, Southwick was edged 6-1, 6-2 at second, and Bergmann fell 6-0, 6-2 at fifth. Stacklum, Mahoney and Malafronte all recorded shut outs, falling 6-0, 6-0 at the third, fourth and sixth slots, respectively.
Saint Rose hosts its final regular season home match on Wednesday at 4:30 pm against Northeast-10 Conference foe American International at Kelton Courts. Prior to the match, the Golden Knights will honor lone senior Megan Stacklum for her hard work and dedication to the program.
