Maria Malafronte picked up the only points for The College of Saint Rose tennis team as the Golden Knights fell to Saint Anslem 7-2 in a
Northeast-10 Conference match Saturday afternoon.
Saint Rose moves to 2-9 overall, and 1-8 in the NE-10, while the Hawks improve to 4-4 in both categories.
Southwick claimed her win deep in the tiebreaker at second singles with a 6-3, 3-6, 14-12 victory. Malafronte only had the chance to play one set, winning 8-4 at No. 6.
Lone senior
Megan Stacklum dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 3, and freshman
KeriAnn Mahoney fell 6-1, 6-2 at fourth. Junior Isabella Cubillos was shut out 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, and freshman
Alanna Bergmann lost 8-4 at fifth singles.
In doubles, Cubillos and Southwick registered an 8-5 loss at No. 1, Stacklum and Mahoney fell 8-1 at No. 2, and Bergmann and Malafronte dropped an 8-4 set at third.
The Golden Knights have just two home matches left on the season, starting with Saint Michael's on Sunday at 11:00 am, and American International on Wednesday at 4:30 pm, both at Kelton Courts. Prior to Wednesday's match, Stacklum will be honored for her hard work and dedication to the program.
