DEVIC'S DOUBLE-DOUBLE AIDS IN 3-1 WIN OVER PURPLE KNIGHTS

COLCHESTER, Vt –Sophomore middle hitter Maryellen Devic recorded her sixth double-double of the season en route to a 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 26-14, 25-19) win for The College of Saint Rose at Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Michael's Saturday afternoon at Ross Sports Center.

Devic knocked down 14 kills and dug up 10 digs to lead the squad overall. Junior outside hitters Kelsey Lace and Carissa Dube registered 10 kills apiece, and setters Tori Daniels and Erica Ziskin dished out 22 and 24 assists, respectively. Senior libero Katy Daniels dug up 22 attacks to lead the defense, and senior setter Ariana Wilson slapped a season-high five service aces.

The Golden Knights (15-6/7-3 NE-10) led 13-9 in set one before Saint Michael's went on a four-point run to tie the game at 13-13. The game featiured eight more ties until the final at 23-23, followed by two straight points for the Purple Knights (5-12/0-10 NE-10) for them to claim the set 25-23.

The Golden Knights jumped out to a 13-9 lead in set two, forcing Saint Michael's to call a pair of timeouts. Saint Rose allowed the Purple Knights to grab just three more points compared to its six throughout the remainder of the game for the 25-16 win.

Set three showed almost an identical script as its predecessor. The Purple Knights took two timeouts once again as the Golden Knights led 20-12. Saint Rose went on a 4-0 run to keep Saint Michael's at an arm's length, and picked up the 25-14 victory.

The fourth and final game held a bit of action as neither team could put more than four points together at a time. Saint Rose maintained a steady lead after the 6-6 mark, and slowly built a lead, capitalizing on a .139 hitting percentage from the Purple Knights. The Golden Knights grabbed an eventual 25-19 win to seal the 3-1 overall victory.

Saint Rose returns home next weekend for its final regular season matches in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. Action gets underway on Friday, October 31 at 7:00 pm with NE-10 foe Southern New Hampshire, and again on Saturday, November 1 against Franklin Pierce at 1:00 pm. Saturday's match is also Senior Day as the Golden Knights will honor Daniels (Katy), Daniels (Tori) and Wilson for their hard work and dedication to the program over the past four seasons. Meanwhile, Saint Michael's has a 7:00 pm meeting at New Haven on Friday.
