MANCHESTER, N.H.–Despite double-digit figures from four members of The College of Saint Rose volleyball team, Saint Anselm defeated the Golden Knights 3-1 (24-26, 22-25, 25-18, 20-25) Friday evening in Northeast-10 Conference play at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
Sophomore middle hitter Maryellen Devic paced the Saint Rose (14-6/6-3 NE-10) offense with 15 kills, followed by junior outside hitter Kelsey Lace with nine. Senior setter Tori Daniels and sophomore setter Erica Ziskin dished out a combined 34 assists, while senior libero Katy Daniels dug up 22 Hawk (11-10, 3-6) attacks.
Trailing by two games heading into the third set, Saint Rose jumped out to a 9-4 lead and maintained a steady lead throughout the game. The Golden Knights grabbed a 25-18 win, and brought the overall score to 2-1.
However, the Hawks kept Saint Rose at a steady distance throughout the entire fourth game to pick up the 25-21 win.
The Golden Knights remain on the road on Saturday with a 2:00 pm meeting at Saint Michael's in Colchester, VT. Saint Rose returns home on Friday, October 31 to face NE-10 foe Southern New Hampshire at 7:00 pm. They will the host Franklin Pierce on Saturday, November 1 at 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, Saint Anselm is back home tomorrow with a 1:00 pm match versus conference rival Le Moyne.
