#5 GOLDEN KNIGHTS UPEND ASSUMPTION IN OVERTIME

WORCESTER, MA–Senior midfielder Emily Benjamin headed home a corner kick from freshman forward Morgan Burchhardt 45 seconds into overtime to lift The College of Saint Rose to a 1-0 victory versus Northeast-10 Conference rival Assumption tonight. The match was played on the campus of Worcester Polytechnic Institute due an Assumption campus closure.
 
In an encounter that featured the top-two NE-10 teams, the fifth-ranked Golden Knights (11-1-1/7-1-1 NE-10) recovered from their lone setback of the year by doubling the Greyhounds shot production and generating a 10-2 corner kick differential.
 
Sophomore keeper Ashley Homer recorded three of her career-high five saves in the first half for Saint Rose. Senior Rachel Edgin was called upon to turn aside four threats in each half for Assumption (8-3-0/7-2-0 NE-10), which had won eight of its last nine entering this evening.
 
Saint Rose dictated pace throughout the second period and in the brief overtime session when it manufactured a 13-4 shot advantage and produced eight of nine corner kicks during that span.
 
Looking ahead, both squads have conference home games on tap for this Saturday. The Golden Knights will host Merrimack at 2:00 pm, while the Greyhounds will take on Bentley at 1:00 pm.
