SAINT ROSE SPLITS DUAL MEET AT BENTLEY

Freshman Elie McRae won three individual events as the men's swimming and diving team defeated Bentley.

Waltham, MA-The College of Saint Rose men's and women's swimming and diving teams were back in action this evening against Bentley, just one day removed from their victories on Senior Night.

The men capped off a perfect weekend, topping the Falcons 155-141. The women kept it close, but were defeated 167-132.

The men's team won 13 of 14 individual events, including three apiece for sophomore Eric Howard and freshman Elie McRae. Howard touched first in the 100-yard backstroke (53.99), 200 backstroke (1:58.13), and the 100 butterfly (53.60). McRae took the 200 butterfly (2:00.27), 200 breaststroke (2:13.76), and the 200 individual medley (2:03.11).

Senior Kyle Wilson had a couple of wins as well. He captured the 100 freestyle in 1:46.00 along with the 500 freestyle in 4:55.26. He joined sophomores Eric Howard and Jordan Gregg and freshman Luciano DeSouza in the 200 freestyle relay. Their final time of 1:29.15 was good enough for the runner-up spot.

Junior David Genender finished second in three meter diving, but won the one meter event with a score of 249.55 points.

Meanwhile, sophomore Samantha Hall and freshman Olivia Reinhardt led the way for the women's team with two individual wins each. Hall touched first in the 1000 and 500 freestyles with respective times of 11:21.37 and 5:32.62. Reinhardt won the 200 butterfly in 2:19.53 and the 100 fly in 1:02.30.

Junior Kiersten Beckford placed first in the 200 freestyle in 2:02.05, and freshman Nikki Buglino swam a winning 100 backstroke time of 1:03.96.

Beckford and Buglino, along with juniors Becky Wisniewski and Caitlin Stanton, swam the 200 freestyle relay in a second-place time of 1:46.24. Junior Alexa Patnaude finished in the top-three in both the one and three meter diving events.

The Golden Knights return to the pool on Saturday, January 25 for a dual meet at Adelphi in Garden City, NY. The meet is scheduled to beging at 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, Bentley travels to Keene State on January 18 for a 1:00 pm start.
