ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose picked up its fourth sweep of the year and fifth consecutive win by defeating visiting Caldwell College 3-0 (30-28, 25-19, 25-18) earlier tonight at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium in a non-conference match.

Sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Lace recorded a .361 hitting percentage behind a match-high 17 kills. She also added seven digs for the Golden Knights (6-1). Junior libero Katy Daniels racked up 19 digs while junior setters Tori Daniels and Ariana Wilson totaled 38 of the team's 42 assists.

Freshman setter Rachel Carpenter paced the Cougar (5-7) offense with 22 assists. Freshman outside hitter Taylor Zaeske connected for a team-high 10 kills.

In an expanded first set, the two teams traded points for the final stages of the frame before a kill by senior middle hitter Alex Gagliano (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall) and a block by freshmen middle hitters Maryellen Devic and Jennifer Gundrum closed out the game at 30-28. Lace led the Saint Rose attack with seven kills while Katy Daniels picked up nine digs.

An early 5-0 advantage in the second set proved beneficial for the Golden Knights as Caldwell mounted a rally in the middle of the set. However, Saint Rose stood tall in the end with 12 kills in the set and 15 digs to combat the Cougar attack.

Saint Rose steadily built a lead in the final third set that helped slow down a late 5-0 run by Caldwell. Lace connected for three kills to account for three of the final four points to secure the set and match victory.

The Golden Knights travel to Worcester, MA Tuesday for the conference opener at Assumption. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Cougars play host to Dominican on Wednesday starting at 7:00 pm.
