GOLDEN KNIGHTS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT AT ROBERTS WESLEYAN

Senior middle hitter Alex Gagliano notched 11 kills in a 3-1 win at Roberts Wesleyan today.

ROCHESTER, NY – After falling in the first set at Roberts Wesleyan, The College of Saint Rose won the next three games by a combined score of 26 points to upend the host Redhawks 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-14) earlier today in a non-conference match.
 
Junior twin sisters, libero Katy Daniels and setter Tori Daniels, played key roles in the victory as Katy racked up 29 digs and Tori accumulated 28 assists. Senior middle hitter Alex Gagliano notched 11 kills on a .357 hitting percentage and also added five blocks for the Golden Knights (4-1). Sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Lace had a team-high 12 kills.
 
Freshman Alexandre Tahuri collected a match-high 14 kills along with 11 digs for the Redhawks (2-3). Sophomore setter Maggie Concannon also had a match-high, posting 36 assists.
 
Roberts Wesleyan took control early in the first game and held on to the advantage behind Tahuri swinging for five kills and Concannon passing out 15 assists.
 
Saint Rose responded in the next three sets, starting with 14 kills in the second game led by Gagliano's four that helped yield a .571 hitting percentage. The Golden scored six of the first seven points to assume control early on.
 
The defense of Saint Rose helped win the third set as the team came up with 23 digs and forced 11 attacking errors on the part of the Redhawks. Katy Daniels led with nine digs while sophomore right side hitter Carissa Dube totaled three kills to pace the offense.
 
Tied at 11 in the final fourth frame, the Golden Knights went on a 14-3 run to close out the set that included five kills by Lace and a team hitting percentage of .389. Tori Daniels handed out 10 assists.

Saint Rose returns home this Friday to face non-conference foe Nyack at 7:00 pm. Looking ahead for Roberts Wesleyan, the squad is scheduled for an East Coast Conference date at LIU Post next Saturday, September 21 at 12:00 pm followed by a 2:00 pm non-conference contest versus Shepherd.
