SAINT ROSE UPENDED BY FRANKLIN PIERCE

Freshman Paige Southwick helped pick up a win in the first flight doubles for Saint Rose during today's 7-2 setback at Franklin Pierce.

RINDGE, NH – The College of Saint Rose was unable to outscore host Franklin Pierce in a 7-2 loss earlier today during a Northeast-10 Conference dual-meet at the Hampshire Hills Sports and Fitness Club.
 
The Golden Knights (0-10/0-10 NE-10) picked up a point during doubles competition as senior Jennifer Crego and freshman Paige Southwick the Franklin Pierce (2-5/1-5 NE-10) pair of junior Natasha McCarthy and sophomore Emily Parrett 8-4 in the first flight doubles. 
 
Crego was also involved in the other Saint Rose point on the afternoon as she won 6-2, 7-6 in the first flight singles against McCarthy. Two other single matches went to tiebreaking sets as Southwick was outdueled by Parrett in the third flight 7-6, 3-6, 4-6. After winning the first game 6-4, sophomore Kerri Robinson was outlasted by senior Melissa Cohen 6-0 and 10-5 in the final two sets.
 
Earlier this week, Saint Rose was defeated by host Saint Anselm 8-1.  Crego was again responsible for the lone point for the Golden Knights as she earned a victory in the first singles.
 
Saint Rose next plays Wednesday when Adelphi travels to Albany for a 4:00 pm conference dual-meet. The day will also represent “Senior Day” for the Golden Knights. Meanwhile, Franklin Pierce returns to its home court on Thursday when the squad hosts league for Assumption at 3:30 pm.
