ALBANY, NY – The College of Saint Rose opened the spring portion of the 2012-13 campaign with a 7-2 setback to
Northeast-10 Conference and
“Upstate Challenge” rival Le Moyne earlier today at the University of Albany bubble.
Despite the loss, senior
Jennifer Crego captured her 30th career singles victory as well as a double victory to help produce both of the Saint Rose (0-7/0-7 NE-10) points. Crego earned a pair of 6-1 victories to upend Le Moyne (3-6/2-4 NE-10) senior Rebecca Black in the first singles flight.
Earlier in the day, Crego teamed with freshman
Paige Southwick in the first flight doubles to pick up an 8-6 win against the Dolphins combination of Black and sophomore Margaret LaFleur. LaFluer bounced back later with a 6-2, 6-3 singles victory in the third flight against Saint Rose senior
Sarah Klein.
With the dual meet victory, the Dolphins earned a point in the year-long “
Upstate Challenge” rivalry series. The score now stands at 6.0-5.0 in favor of the Golden Knights with matchups remaining between the Saint Rose and Le Moyne baseball, lacrosse and softball teams.
The Golden Knights begin a stretch of four matches away from home starting Wednesday, March 20 at Amerian International in Springfield, MA. Start time is 3:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Dolphins will next compete on Saturday, March 23 at Assumption in Worcester, MA at 12:00 pm.
