ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose rallied from two sets down only to fall 3-2 (25-23, 25-17, 14-25, 19-25, 15-11) to Merrimack in a Northeast-10 Conference Championship quarterfinal match tonight at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The seventh-seed Warriors (16-14) will now take on sixth-seed Stonehill in a semifinal match this Friday, November 22 at the University of New Haven. The Skyhawks moved forward with a 3-2 triumph at third-seed Bentley this evening.

Freshman middle hitter Jennifer Gundrum recorded a .571 attack percentage behind 13 kills and only one error throughout 21 swings for the second-seed Golden Knights (19-5). Sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Lace registered a "double-double" with 13 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore right side hitter Carissa Dube finished with 12 kills and six block assists.

Additionally, junior libero Katy Daniels came up with 14 digs in the back while junior setter Tori Daniels handed out 25 assists. Freshman setter Erica Ziskin and junior setter Ariana Wilson added 16 and 12 assists respectively.

For Merrimack, junior outside hitter Stephanie Sheehan registered 16 kills while junior middle hitter Aliya Winkler contributed 10, thanks in part to freshman setter Tara Stuhr who distributed 42 assists. Sophomore libero Madison Burke spearheaded the Warriors defensive effort with 21 digs.

Merrimack scored five of the final six points in the fifth set to secure the victory after setting the tone by rebounding from a 14-8 deficit in the opener. The Warriors subsequently scored 12 of the next 18 points to tie it at 20-20. It was still tied at 23-23 when Sheehan and Winkler put away back-to-back kills to close out the set.

The Warriors then jumped out to a 7-3 lead en route to an eight point victory in the second, before Saint Rose turned the momentum by securing an 18-9 advantage to take the third set 25-14. The Golden Knights then took advantage of a 15-14 lead by closing out the fourth set on a 10-5 run to set up the finale.
