The Plot: The College of Saint Rose hosts Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi University this afternoon inside the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium for the first conference match at home this season.

Last Meeting (10/6/12): Having two games go to extra points, Saint Rose could not escape with a set win as host Adelphi earned a 3-0 victory. Senior middle hitter Alex Gagliano led Saint Rose with 11 kills and a .364 hitting percentage.  Junior setters Ariana Wilson and Tori Daniels combined for 49 assists. Junior middle blocker Kaitlyn DeStefano notched a team-high 11 kills on a .385 hitting percentage while Samantha Rico had a team-high .389 hitting percentage on the strength of 10 kills for the Panthers.

Scouting Saint Rose (9-1/1-0 NE-10): The Golden Knights are averaging 12.71 kills per-set while yielding only 8.83 to opponents. Freshman middle hitter Maryellen Devic was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. Devic entered the week 29th in the country and second in the conference with a .367 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, junior libero Katy Daniels is tied for first in the conference with 5.50 digs per-set, which is 17th nationally. Saint Rose continues to pace the NE-10 with a .247 hitting percentage and is second at 11.83 assists per-set.

Scouting Adelphi (7-6/0-0 NE-10): The Panthers have won three straight and seven of their last nine matches. DeStefano leads Adelphi with 2.64 kills and 0.82 blocks per-set. Senior setter Katie Bryson passes out 7.37 assists per-set. Adelphi has advanced to the conference championship in three of the last four seasons, defeating the Golden Knights in 2011 and losing to UMass Lowell in 2009 and New Haven in 2012. The Panthers have made eight total postseason apperances and reached the NCAA East Regional semifinals a year ago.

Up Next: Both squads are slated for 7:00 pm conference matches Tuesday evening. Saint Rose travels to New Haven, CT to face Southern Connecticut State while Adelphi hosts Assumption in Garden City, NY.
