WILMINGTON, DE – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team split two matches this evening to begin a weekend at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Wilmington University (DE).  The Golden Knights earned a 3-1 win over Kutztown in the first match, followed by a 3-0 loss to the host Wildcats.

Saint Rose (3-2) dropped the first set (25-22) to Wildcats before winning the next three sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-21) to earn the match victory.  This match was a rematch of last weekend's match in which Kutztown defeated the Golden Knights by a match score of 3-2 at the Kutztown Classic.

Three individuals tallied 14 kills to lead Saint Rose, which accumulated double-digit kills in all four sets.  Junior middle hitter Alex Gagliano was one player to connect on 14 kills, leading the team with a .464 hitting percentage.  Gagliano also came away with four block assists.  Fellow junior, outside hitter Christina Strezenec, and freshman outside hitter Kelsey Lace joined Gagliano with the team-high 14 kills.

Sophomore setters Ariana Wilson and Tori Daniels combined for 39 of the team's 44 assists.  Additionally, Wilson and Strezenec each led Saint Rose with three service aces each.

Despite playing each set tough in the second match against Wilmington, the Golden Knights were unable to pick up a victory.  The Wildcats offense was well-balanced as the team had no player in double-figure kills despite totaling 38 as a team in the three sets played.

In the effort, sophomore libero Katy Daniels controlled the back line of the Saint Rose defense with 25 digs.  Gagliano kept up her efficient attacking, hitting a .353 percentage for seven kills while freshman right side hitter Carissa Dube had a team-high eight kills.

The Golden Knights return to action in the Wildcat Invitational tomorrow morning with two more matches at the Wilmington University Athletics Complex.  The first is scheduled for 9:30 am against West Chester (PA) followed by a match beginning at 12:00 pm with University of the Sciences (PA).
