ALBANY, NY – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team used a balanced attack that led to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-17) earlier this afternoon in a non-conference match against Saint Anselm.
After a tough loss last night for Saint Rose (6-3) against NYIT, the Golden Knights came out in the first set of today's match looking to capture victory. Junior middle hitter
Alex Gagliano went for a .800 hitting percentage in the first set to achieve four kills. Gagliano's early performance coupled with the seven assists in the set for sophomore setter
Ariana Wilson helped Saint Rose jump out to an early 14-4 lead before a Saint Anselm timeout. The Golden Knights from that point finished the set on an 11-8 streak.
The second set found more of the same for Saint Rose, as Wilson and fellow sophomore setter
Tori Daniels combined for 10 of the team's 11 assists in the set. With the score 10-8 in favor of the Golden Knights, the group quickly grew that lead to 21-8 with 11 unanswered points to help close out the set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Kelsey Lace each tallied four kills. Saint Rose also came up with four service aces to help secure the set and match win.
In the effort, junior middle blocker Vivian Fitzgerald led the Hawks with nine kills on a .692 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Natalie Steinwart paced the offense with 14 assists.
For Saint Rose, three different individuals shared the team-high of seven kills in a balanced offense output. Lace, Gagliano, and Dube shared the lead as Lace also came up with six digs and three services aces. Wilson and Daniels finished with a combined 29 assists.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose travels to Orangeburg, NY for a non-conference match at Dominican on Monday. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm. As for Saint Anselm, the Hawks return home on Tuesday for a 7:30 pm conference meeting versus Stonehill.
