Box Score 2 KUTZTOWN, PA – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team earned a split of two matches earlier today at the Kutztown Classic. The Golden Knights dropped the opener to the host Kutztown in five sets, 3-2, followed by a bounce back 3-0 sweep of Virginia Union.
Saint Rose (2-1) jumped out to an early 2-1 lead over Kutztown (3-1) in the opening match behind 25-16 and 25-22 victories in the first and third sets respectively. The Bears edged out a win in the second set by a score of 25-23 and then forced a decisive fifth set with a 27-25 triumph in the fourth set. In the final set, Kutztown came away victorious by a score of 15-11.

Kelsey Lace continued her outstanding debut weekend, collecting 16 kills to lead the team. Lace also came up with 15 digs in the effort while sophomore libero
Katy Daniels tallied a team-high 29. Junior outside hitter
Christina Strezenec highly contributed in the effort as well with 12 kills and 21 digs.
Saint Rose regrouped for the second and final match of the day, completing a sweep of Virginia Union (0-2) by sets scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-9. The Golden Knights generated solid offense with 32 kills and 12 service aces. Sophomore setter
Ariana Wilson accounted for four services aces to lead. Furthermore, Wilson had a team-high 15 assists. Lace recorded 10 kills, giving her three straight double-digit kill matches to begin her collegiate career.
Next on the schedule for the Golden Knights is a four-match weekend tournament starting next Friday at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Wilmington (DE) University. The first match will be a rematch of earlier today as Saint Rose takes on Kutztown at 6:00 pm.
