Box Score KUTZTOWN, PA – The College of Saint Rose won its 2012 season-opener against University of the Sciences (PA) in five sets earlier this evening during the first of two days at the Kutztown Classic.
The Devils (0-1) earned set victories during the second and fourth frames by the identical score of 25-17. The Golden Knights (1-0) prevailed in the match by taking the first and third sets with scores of 26-24 and 25-16 respectively along with a 15-9 decision in the finale.
Freshman outside hitter
Kelsey Lace played well in her collegiate debut, leading Saint Rose with 11 kills. Sophomore setters
Ariana Wilson and
Tori Daniels each accumulated 13 assists for the Golden Knights in the victory, with Daniels also coming up with 10 digs. Sophomore libero
Katy Daniels led the team with 13 digs.
Sophomore setter Kaileen Bevenour paced the Devils with 21 assists while freshman middle hitter Caitlyn Crawford put down nine kills. Defensively, senior libero Stacey Wooden controlled the back line with 20 digs.
Coming up on Saturday, Saint Rose wraps up play at the Kutztown Classic with a 10:00 am meeting against the host Bears followed by a 2:00 pm match versus Virginia Union.
