Box Score GARDEN CITY, NY – Starting off a match that had two sets go to extra points, The College of Saint Rose could not escape with a set win as Adelphi University earned a 3-0 (25-27, 25-27, 22-25)

Alex Gagliano led Saint Rose (8-7/1-3 NE-10) with 11 kills and a .364 hitting percentage. Sophomore setters
Ariana Wilson and
Tori Daniels shared combined for 49 assists while junior outside hitter
Christina Strezenec added 10 digs and eight kills.
Adelphi (12-8/4-0 NE-10) had two student-athletess reach double-figure kills, as sophomore middle blocker Kaitlyn DeStefano notched a team-high 11 on a .385 hitting percentage while senior middle blocker Samantha Rico had a team-high .389 hitting percentage on the strength of 10 kills. Junior setter Katie Bryson helped run the offense with 33 assists.
The Panthers gained the early advantage in the first, going up by as many as five points at 18-13. However, a 6-1 Saint Rose run knotted the score at 19 apiece. Each team then went on their own 5-0 runs as Adelphi first gained a 24-19 lead before the Golden Knights brought it back to an even 24. Two kills by junior outside hitter Colleen Raga proved to be the necessary strikes Adelphi needed to close out the set. DeStefano had four kills on a .800 hitting percentage in the set as Gagliano had a game-high five kills.
Adelphi again used an early attack to jump out to a lead. The Golden Knights once again fought back to take a late lead within one point of closing out the second game. However, a Saint Rose unforced error and an Adelphi kill afforded the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the match following the 27-25 victory. Rico and DeStefano shared the game-high with four kills each. Gagliano also had four kills in the set.
Another tight contest ensued during the third set, as the Panthers could not gain a sizeable margin before two straight kills allowed them to close out the match. Bryson added 13 more assists during the final set as the Panthers came up with 15 kills and a team .273 hitting percentage.
Saint Rose returns home this Wednesday to face NE-10 rival Pace at Nolan Gymnasium for a 7:00 pm match. The match can be watched live on
www.gogoldenknights.tv. Adelphi on the other hand will dip into non-conference action later this week, traveling to local rival Molloy on Thursday. The match is set to begin at 6:00 pm in Rockville Centre, NY.
