The Plot: The College of Saint Rose hosts
Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce University this afternoon inside the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
Last Meeting (10/21/11): Despite 21 kills from Aubrey Bobo and 20 kills and 11 digs by Sarah Kahrs, the Golden Knights were unable to pick up a victory against Franklin Pierce in five sets. Junior outside hitter Natasha Ray led three Ravens in double-digit kills with 16 to go along with a matching number of digs for an impressive "double-double." Junior setter Stephanie Svorinic finished the match with 51 assists for Franklin Pierce.
Scouting Saint Rose (12-8/5-4 NE-10): The Golden Knights are fresh off of a dramatic five set victory last night against Southern New Hampshire. Junior middle hitter Alex Gagliano had career-high 19 kills to lead Saint Rose. Entering play this week, Gagliano was 12th in the nation and second in the NE-10 with a .386 hitting percentage. She was also sixth in the NE-10 with 0.90 blocks per-set. Freshman outside hitter Kelsey Lace was sixth in the league on a 3.15 kills per-set average. Defensivley, Katy Daniels' 4.79 dig average was third in the conference.
Scouting Franklin Pierce (14-12/7-2 NE-10): The Ravens are also coming into today off a victory last night, defeating Le Moyne on the road by a final score of 3-0. Franklin Pierce's offense is a balanced attack that does not include a individual insde the league's top 10 attackers. However, the team has six players averaging at least one kill per-set, led by Ray's 2.53 average. Junior libero Lauren Miller currently ranks sixth in the NE-10 with 4.57 digs per-set. Freshman middle hitter Lina Klenschmidt is seventh in the conference with a team-leading 0.84 blocks per-set.
Up Next: The Golden Knights will play their third straight Friday-Saturday doubleheader next weekend when they travel to Manchester, NH to meet Saint Anselm on Friday at 7:30 pm and then head to Colchester, VT for Saturday's 1:00 pm date at Saint Michael's. Franklin Pierce also visits Saint Anselm this upcoming week, with a 7:30 pm encounter set for Tuesday.
