SAINT ROSE CONCLUDES WEEKEND TRIP WITH A VICTORY AT STONEHILL

Sophomore setter Ariana Wilson put together an all-around match to help Saint Rose upend host Stonehill today.
Box Score EASTON, MA – The College of Saint Rose completed a two-match road trip on the back of today's 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-15, 25-18) victory at Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference action, going 2-0 in less than 24 hours and moving to a .500 in conference play. 
 
Sophomore setter Ariana Wilson filled the stat sheet, leading Saint Rose (11-8/4-4 NE-10) with 29 assists and five service aces to go along with eight digs, four kills, and two block assists.  Freshman outside hitter Kelsey Lace tallied a match-high 13 kills as well as 10 digs while junior middle hitter Alex Gagliano recorded a .435 hitting percentage on 12 kills.  Sophomore libero Katy Daniels found 22 digs on the back line for the afternoon's high.
 
The Skyhawks (11-10, 5-4 NE-10) had their own sophomore setter fill the box score as Emily Iverson ended her afternoon on 31 assists, 12 digs, four kills, and a block assist.  Iverson managed to spread out Stonehill's 41 kills, as sophomore middle blocker Mary-Kate Catton had the team-high eight. 
 
The first set went back-and-forth as Saint Rose finally managed to breakaway on 4-0 run after the score was tied at 18.  Two kills by Lace and one by Gagliano spirited the run, as Wilson closed out the game on a service ace after she set up senior middle hitter Kaitlyn Jasnica for a kill to make it game point.  Lace led all participants with five kills for the game.
 
A different trend found its way into the second game, as the Skyhawks were able to create a large lead.  And despite four straight points for Saint Rose towards the end of the match, Stonehill's lead was secure enough for the win.  Four different players put down two kills for the Skyhawks on a team .267 hitting percentage.  Gagliano went for five kills to lead Saint Rose.
 
Four service aces by Wilson and five kills by Lace alloowed the Golden Knights to take the third set. Saint Rose scored seven unanswered points to open the stanza,before Stonehill answered with a 3-0 spurt. However, another 7-0 run near the end of the set put the Golden Knights go up 2-1 in the match. Saint Rose then built an 11 point lead to close out the match in the fourth set.
 
Following this brief road trip, Saint Rose returns home this Friday. The Golden Knights host Southern New Hampshire starting at 7:00 pm inside Nolan Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to be streamed live on www.gogoldenknights.tv.  Prior to coming to Albany, Southern New Hampshire will visit Stonehill this Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
