The Plot: The College of Saint Rose hosts
Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne College this evening inside Nolan Gymnasium. The match marks the latest installment of the year-long
"Upstate Challenge".
Last Meeting (10/4/11): Saint Rose recorded a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-17) sweep of Le Moyne in Syracuse. Aubrey Bobo had 13 kills and a .400 hitting percentage while senior middle hitter Kaitlyn Jasnica recoreded 12 kills and a .348 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Ariana Wilson delivered 18 assists.
Scouting Saint Rose (8-5/1-1 NE-10): In the past three matches, the Golden Knights have come away with a sweep at American International that was sandwiched by two tough five-set losses versus Southern Connecticut State and at LIU Post. Freshman outside hitter Kelsey Lace is seventh in the NE-10 with a team-leading 3.08 kills per-set. Junior middle hitter Alex Gagliano stands eighth in the nation with a league-best .401 hitting percentage. In the back, sophomore libero Katy Daniels is third in the conference with a 4.80 dig average.
Scouting Le Moyne (10-4/1-1 NE-10): The Dolphines picked up a 3-0 victory against visiting UMass Lowell this past Sunday for their sixth sweep this season. The Le Moyne attack is balanced with four players averaging more than 2.00 kills per-set. Senior outside hitter Bethany Fabian leads the way with 2.74 per-set. Fabian additionally paces the squad with a 4.28 dig average. Sophomore setter Megan Maisonet helps create that balance with a team-high 9.68 assists average.
Upstate Challenege: Tonight marks the third installment of the year-long "Upstate Challenege" rivalry series between these two institutions. It currently stands tied at 1-1 on the year.
Up Next: Saint Rose makes its second straight weekend trip to Long Island Saturday for a 2:00 pm conference date at Adelphi. Meanwhile, Le Moyne returns home on Friday for a 7:00 pm NE-10 tilt with American International.
