GOLDEN KNIGHTS FINISH STRONG FOR WIN AT BENTLEY

Sophomore libero Katy Daniels finished with 27 digs tonight for a match-high.
Box Score WALTHAM, MA – Falling behind 1-0 in the match, The College of Saint Rose won the next three sets to earn a 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-18) Northeast-10 Conference victory at Bentley earlier this evening.

Freshman outside hitter Kelsey Lace led the Saint Rose (10-8/3-4 NE-10) attack behind a match-high 12 kills.  Junior middle hitter Alex Gagliano and freshman outside hitter Carissa Dube followed with eight kills each.  On the defensive side of the net, Gagliano tallied nine total blocks on two solo and seven assisted as the Golden Knights were benefited by 14 total team blocks.  Sophomore libero Katy Daniels controlled a match-high 27 digs.

For Bentley (8-15, 3-5 NE-10), sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Buckner ended her night with 11 kills and 13 digs for a “double-double.”  Senior middle blocker Grace Conner had a .350 hitting percentage for 10 kills.  Freshman setter Kyana Miller balanced the offensive attack with 36 assists.

After trailing early in the first set, the Falcons put a run together to go up by as many nine at 21-12 on a service ace from Miller.  Saint Rose was able to score six of the next seven points, however, could not make up the deficit to overtake the Falcons.  Three different Bentley individuals came away from the first game with four kills each as Miller dished out 14 assists.

Gagliano powered the Saint Rose offense in the second game, generating four of the team's nine kills on a .667 hitting percentage.  She helped spark a run during the set that pushed the Golden Knights ahead and eventually build a lead.  Leading 20-18 late in the game, a quick 5-0 run that was highlighted by four Bentley errors helped split the match at 1-1.

Short scoring bursts in the third game allowed Saint Rose to grow a lead to 24-15, one point away from victory.  The Falcons fought back towards the end before the Golden Knights closed out the game on a Gagliano kill from sophomore setter Tori Daniels.  Lace took away a set-high four kills in the game.

Four kills each from Lace and fellow freshman outside hitter Ashley Flock and .324 team hitting percentage allowed Saint Rose come away with a match clinching victory during the fourth set.  Again benefiting from short runs, the Golden Knights were able to hold off the Falcons.

Saint Rose quickly jumps back into action tomorrow, traveling to Easton, MA for a league match at Stonehill.  First service is scheduled for 1:00 pm.  Bentley is also playing tomorrow at 1:00 pm, hosting conference foe Le Moyne.
