STONEHILL OVERCOMES DEFICIT TO TAKE CARE OF SAINT ROSE 3-2

Senior middle hitter Chelsea Tyler had a season-high 13 kills today
ALBANY – Stonehill College used a 9-1 surge in the fifth and deciding set to hand The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team its second straight 3-2 loss (25-20, 21-25, 25-16, 24-26, 11-15) in a Northeast-10 Conference match today at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Skyhawks improved to 7-0 in league play, while the Golden Knights (10-7/5-3 NE-10) have now dropped three straight NE-10 contests following a 5-0 start.

Senior outside hitter Aubrey Bobo and senior middle hitter Chelsea Tyler paved the way for Saint Rose. Bobo finished with 17 kills and 13 digs, while Tyler threw down a season-high 13 kills to go along with a pair of blocks. Junior right side hitter Kaitlyn Jasnica added 10 kills as well.

The tandem of freshman setter Ariana Wilson and freshman defensive specialist Tori Daniels ran the Golden Knights' offense to the tune of 24 and 21 assists respectively. Furthermore, Wilson contributed nine digs and three aces, while Daniels had seven digs of her own.

Stonehill (19-3/7-0 NE-10), which entered the match as the top hitting squad in the conference, had four players reach twin-figures in kills led by senior outside hitter Laura Huselton. Huselton tossed in 15 kills and nine digs, while sophomore right side hitter Kirsten Arvidson recorded 14 kills and three blocks.

Freshman setter Emily Iverson also had a big day for the Skyhawks. Iverson dished out 50 assists, collected eight digs and had three kills.

Up next, Saint Rose hits the road next weekend for back-to-back NE-10 encounters. The Golden Knights meet Southern New Hampshire University at 7:00 pm Friday in Manchester, NH. Stonehill returns to action Tuesday night when the Skyhawks host Assumption College at 7:00 pm.
