SAINT ROSE RALLIES TO GAIN SPLIT IN TWIN-BILL AT NYIT

OLD WESTBURY, NY – The College of Saint Rose rebounded from a 3-1 loss (18-25, 16-25, 25-21, 13-25) to Queens College by taking the final two sets en route to a thrilling 3-2 (23-25, 26-24, 19-25, 32-30, 15-10) victory against host NYIT this afternoon.

Freshman outside hitter Marilyn Glamack recorded 19 kills and 17 digs and freshman setter Theresa Staulo distributed 48 assists to lead the Golden Knights (5-3). Junior libero Mary German spearheaded the defense with 27 digs. Furthermore, freshman middle hitter Chelsea Tyler wound up with 12 kills and sophomore middle hitter Kelly Ryan added nine kills. Junior right side hitter Jaclyn Griffin and sophomore outside hitter Rachel Baxter added eight apiece.

Freshman middle blocker Ali Falbo had 14 kills and 12 digs to go with a pair of blocks for NYIT (1-9).

In the day's opening match versus Queens, Glamack recorded eight kills to go with three aces and five digs, while Ryan and Tyler had five kills and three blocks apiece. Furthermore, Staulo handed out 23 assists.

Senior middle hitter Enobong Shammah recorded 16 kills, with only four attack errors, and four blocks to lead Queens (6-1).

The Golden Knights will play their 2008 Northeast-10 Conference opener on Wednesday with a 7:00 pm match at American International in Springfield. Queens will host Mercy College on Tuesday, while NYIT will host Molloy College that same evening.
