Diane Matthews is in her fifth year as the assistant men’s and women’s track and field coach at The College of Saint Rose. Matthews also serves as the athletics administrator for compliance.
Matthews assists head coach Robert Dorn with all aspects of the track and field team, which is competing in its sixth full season after resuming its status as an intercollegiate sport in the spring of 2006. The men’s outdoor squad recorded its highest point total ever at the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Championships last May en route to a fourth place effort. The Golden Knights established a pair of meet records in the process. Meanwhile, the women have produced the conference champion in the 10,000-meter run twice in the past three years. At this juncture, Matthew’s coaching emphasis and development is on middle distance events.
Matthews is responsible for the monitoring of compliance and academic eligibility in accordance with NCAA and Northeast-10 Conference rules and regulations. The Saint Rose athletics department is comprised of some 250 student-athletes who compete in 18 intercollegiate programs at the NCAA Division II level.
Matthews is a 2004 graduate of the University at Albany where she received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with cum laude honors. While a student at UAlbany, Matthews was a four-year member of the women’s track and field team. She served as a two-year team captain and was an ECAC Merit Award winner.
Matthews was previously employed by Dutchess Community College as an intern in the Career Counseling Services department. During this time, Matthews also attended Marist College where she earned a master’s degree in psychology in May of 2006.
