Stephen Hogan is in his second year as the head men’s soccer coach at The College of Saint Rose. He is the 10th mentor in the program’s history.
“We are excited to have Stephen Hogan move into the head coach position for our men’s soccer program. He has been a successful recruiter while serving as a first assistant for three years. His contributions to the program played an integral part in helping the 2013 team reach the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament,” said Cathy Haker, Director of Athletics and Recreation, at the time of his appointment.
Hogan worked for former head coach Matt Jones. He helped develop the Golden Knights training program, assisted with all aspects of recruiting, and helped monitor the student-athletes academic progress.
A native of Dublin, Ireland where he started playing soccer at three-years-old, Hogan came to the United States after receiving a full scholarship to Martin Methodist College in Tennessee. An All-Conference and All-Region midfielder, he helped lead the RedHawks to the 2004 and 2005 TransSouth Conference regular-season championships.
Hogan has previously had multiple professional tryouts and has played with six English professional clubs; including Newcastle United, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, and Oldham Athletic. He also played with Reading United out of Pennsylvania from 2007 through 2010 and was a member of Ireland’s Junior International Squad in 2000.
Hogan is a Co-Founder and the Technical Director for First Touch Soccer USA, which develops training programs for soccer clubs in New York’s Capital Region. He also served as the Technical Director for the Berks Soccer Academy (BSA Rage) in Reading from 2008 to 2010.
Hogan earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Martin Methodist in 2008. He also holds a certificate in sports and business administration from Dublin’s Colaiste Ide College of Further Education.
