Michael Matera is in his second year as an assistant for head coach Stephen Hogan. Matera is a 2014 graduate of nearby Siena College where he was a four-year starter and a team captain for the Saints. He was furthermore named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2010.

Matera is still an active player who has already gained a great amount of coaching experience. He owns a Connecticut Coaching Certification and is on the roster of the Western Mass Pioneers professional soccer club, which plays in the American Soccer League.

Matera also coaches at numerous venues including the Alleycats Soccer Academy, Afrim’s Soccer Camp, and the First Touch Soccer Academy in Albany. He has served as a coach at the Latham Circle Soccer Club and at the EDP College ID Camp at Rider University in New Jersey. Matera additionally worked as a counselor at Siena and at the Skyhawks Sports Academy in Connecticut.

The Trumbull, CT native owns a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Siena.
