Wayne Jones

Wayne Jones is in his sixth year, excluding his interim 2017 season, as The College of Saint Rose head baseball coach. The spring marks the eighth year for the Ballston Lake, N.Y. native as part of the Golden Knights coaching staff. He spent the 2015 and 2016 campaigns as an assistant where his primary responsibilities were focused on the pitching staff.

Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Lori Anctil reflected on the Saint Rose baseball mentor.

“Wayne is the ultimate team player whose character and integrity are unparalleled. His passion for providing an amazing collegiate experience for the young men he coaches is rivaled only by his ability to identify and develop talent. Wayne’s leadership and commitment to success will continue to deliver many wins on and off the field,” said Anctil.

Jones brings a wealth of experience to the Golden Knights program. He previously served as the pitching coach at nearby Shenendehowa and Shaker High Schools from 2000-14. He also worked in the same capacity for the South Troy Dodgers Elite Team throughout a 12-year span and was the head coach of the Clifton Park Reds of the Mountain Collegiate League from 1998-04.

At Shaker, he helped guide the Bison to the 2011 New York State Championship Tournament Finals and had a hand in developing two major league pitchers, six-year veteran Jeff Hoffman who was selected ninth overall by Toronto in 2016, and Tommy Kahnle who spent seven years in the major leagues.

In addition, Jones helped lead South Troy to six Connie Mack World Series appearances and directed Clifton Park to the 1999 Continental Amateur Baseball Association Collegiate Division National Championship.

He currently resides in Halfmoon, N.Y.
