Mike Hartz is in his second year as an assistant to head coach Chris Francis. Hartz arrives from Mansfield University (PA) where he had an outstanding career as a third baseman for the Mounties. Hartz helped lead Mansfield to a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament appearances and an NCAA Tournament berth. He also made 137 consecutive starts to conclude his career.
A two-year captain at Mansfield where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Hartz garnered All-League honors from the PSAC as a junior in 2010 when he was furthermore named a Rawlings Regional Gold Glove honoree. He also recorded a team-leading 54 RBI to go with 19 doubles that year, the sixth highest single-season mark in school annals, and was named the PSAC Player of the Week for the period ending April 19, 2010 after he batted .517 with 17 RBI, a .543 on-base percentage and five runs scored.
