Jose Segura returns to Saint Rose as an assistant coach for a sixth season. Segura, who closed out his three-year playing career at Saint Rose in 2003, handles the first base coaching duties and also works with the club’s outfielders.
Segura was a preseason honorable mention All-America pick as a junior in 2002. That year, he went on to garner ABCA first-team All-Region and NE-10 first-team All-Conference accolades after he belted a school record (varsity era) six triples and finished second in the league with 18 stolen bases. He also batted .353, produced a 20-game hit streak and drove in a team leading 60 runs out of the leadoff position that year.
He wound up his career eighth all-time in school annals in hits (153), 11th in runs scored (113), third in triples (8) and tied for tenth in both home runs (22) and RBI (106).
