MANCHESTER, NH- The College of Saint Rose Golden Knights earned a doubleheader split on the back of a game two complete-game win from starting pitcher
Randall Alejo. Alejo went 7.0 innings and struck out nine while allowing just four hits.
Saint Rose dropped the opening game of the day 5-2. The Golden Knights opened the scoring with a first inning home run from right fielder
James Ward, his first of the season. Shortstop
Kenyon Motley added a sacrifice fly in the second inning to put Saint Rose up 2-0 after two innings, however the Penmen would score the next five runs of the game.
Golden Knight first baseman
Nathan Toms sparked the offense in game two, going 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Left fielder
Mike Benedetto provided two hits for Saint Rose along with an RBI and a run scored. He started the scoring for the Golden Knights with a single that drove in
Louis Gendron in the first inning. Gendron scored twice in the win.
Third baseman
Jack Griffin smacked a double in the sixth that drove in two and extended the Saint Rose lead to 4-1.
Southern New Hampshire would rally in the final frame, however Alejo would secure the final out with the potential tying run on third.
The Golden Knights are back on the diamond Sunday when they head to Saint Anselm for a pair of games beginning at 12:00 pm.
