SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The College of Saint Rose baseball team finished its weekend with a 10-5 triumph today at American International. The victory completes a three-game sweep for Saint Rose over the Yellow Jackets, following two walk-off victories for the Golden Knights in Saturday's doubleheader at Bellizzi Field.
Six different members of the Saint Rose lineup registered multiple hits this afternoon, with
Vince Venditti going 2-for-4 with two walks to reach base a team-high four times.
James Ward,
Louis Gendron,
Nathan Toms, and
Josh Foglia each posted 2-for-5 efforts, while
Ethan Farina went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Gendron, Foglia, and
Ryan Deo, and
Jack Griffin all drove in runs as well.
The Golden Knights led 4-0 after three innings, however AIC would chip away to cut their deficit to 4-3 going into the late innings.
Gendron extended the Saint Rose lead to 5-3 in the seventh before the Golden Knights scored five runs in the eighth and ninth innings to seal the win. Farina plated a run in the seventh and knocked a two-run, bases-loaded single in the ninth to provide the key hits.Â
Tyler Kneller punched out six across 6.0 innings, while
Stephen Orlando closed out the rest to earn a three-inning save.
Next up, Saint Rose plays host to Franklin Pierce in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Bellizzi Field.
