GOLDEN KNIGHTS TAKE DOWN AIC 78-69

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose battled Northeast-10 Conference rival American International today in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium, with the Golden Knights coming out on top 78-69.

Junior guard Tristian Jeffries logged a team-high 19 points, which included 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Junior forward Ata Turgut added 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Jeffries and Turgut each tallied five rebounds and two steals apiece as well.

Freshman guard Trey Boyd III poured in 13 points off the bench, while junior Nuha Sagnia registered a double-double with 12 points and a career-best 15 rebounds.

Freshman guard Dante Weise finished with seven points and nine assists and freshman guard Christian Pierre-Louis had nine points and six boards.

Saint Rose utilized a 23-4 sprint in the early minutes of the first half to build a lead that reached 18 points. The Golden Knights advantage would slowly whittle away however, as the Yellow Jackets tallied 16 of the final 22 points of the half to cut the deficit to seven at the break.

Six three-pointers by AIC in the first 10 minutes of the second half allowed the visitors to move within one point, but the Golden Knights would respond with 21 of the next 31 points to extend their lead back to double-digits in the closing stages.

The Golden Knights finished 28-of-53 from the field (52.8 percent) and 6-of-8 (75 percent) from three-point land.

Saint Rose will look ahead to Tuesday's night meeting at Saint Anselm, where the Golden Knights and Hawks will tip-off at 7:30 pm in Manchester, NH.
