ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose netted a goal in the 81st minute this afternoon to edge Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State 2-1.
Junior Ryleigh Hopeck scored the game-winner for the #2 nationally ranked Golden Knights with 9:14 remaining in regulation.
Hopeck slotted home a shot into the low-left corner after junior forward Mia Klammer delivered a perfect pass from the end line.
The Golden Knights had trailed 1-0 into the middle stages of the second half until graduate midfielder Elina Seppala converted a penalty kick to level the action at 1-1.
Junior goalkeeper Peyton DeRouen turned away six shots in the second half for the Golden Knights to help Saint Rose remain perfect in 2023.
The two teams combined to attempt 30 shots on the afternoon.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose is back at Sullivan Field on Wednesday to host Bloomfield in a non-conference matchup at 6:00 pm. SCSU returns to action on Wednesday at Adelphi.
