ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose women's team fell 17-9 to Southern Connecticut State this afternoon, with Owls opening up the action in the second half as they outscored Saint Rose 8-2 in the fourth period of the victory.
Junior midfielder
Daria Bock scored four goals and recorded an assist to lead the Golden Knights with five points. Saint Rose also received two goals apiece from sophomores
Katy McPeak and
Lauren Pendergast, while Pendergast provided two assists as well.
The Golden Knights scored twice in the final minute of the second period to end a sluggish first half only trailing by one.Â
Pendergast tallied both her strikes as part of an early third-period rally that allowed the Golden Knights to level the score at 7-7, however, SCSU owned 12 of the final 14 goals of the game to claim the win.
Southern Connecticut State graduate attack Bayleigh Takacs finished with eight points and she topped all players with five goals. Graduate attack Karlie Rowe found the back of the net four times as well to aid the Owl attack.
Looking forward, both squads stay in the league with Wednesday afternoon matchups with Northeast-10 Conference opponents. Saint Rose is back at Sullivan Field to face American International at 6:00 pm, while Southern Connecticut State meets #7 Le Moyne at 3:00 pm in Syracuse.
