WEATHER DISRUPTS EVENING DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST FRANKLIN PIERCE

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose softball team suffered a 4-3 setback in game one of tonight's Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader before weather forced game two to be suspended in the top of the second inning.

Trailing throughout the majority of the opener, the Ravens plated one run in the sixth and three more in the seventh to claim the come-from-behind win.

The Golden Knights had done all their scoring in a three-run third inning that featured run-scoring singles from junior center fielder Ciana Phillips and sophomore second baseman Alexandra Deeter. Phillips drove in sophomore right fielder Nayanna DeAmelia before Deeter plated Phillips and sophomore left fielder Mattison Muller.

Franklin Pierce got on the board with a sacrifice fly in sixth to inch to within 3-1, setting up the seventh-inning rally that flipped the game in favor of the visitors.

Saint Rose fought to the last out, as a two-out double by freshman designated player Maddy Bland in the bottom of the seventh that gave the Golden Knights a chance with the tying-run in the scoring position, however, Ravens pitcher Abby Poirot induced a pop up of Chandler to end close out the one-run triumph.

Game two between of the series was suspended due to weather with Franklin Pierce leading 1-0 in the top of the second.

The Golden Knights are scheduled to return to action with a Friday doubleheader at Pace. Franklin Pierce is back on Friday as well, with a pair of games at home against Assumption.
