GARDEN CITY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose baseball team exploded for a 17-10 victory over Adelphi in game two of this afternoon's Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader on Long Island. For the Golden Knights, the 17 run-output marked a season-high, while their 19 hits matched the most hits posted in a single-game by the Golden Knights lineup this spring.

James Ward finished 5-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in the Saint Rose win. Ward was one of three Golden Knights to post four or more hits in the contest, as sophomore
Vince Venditti and senior right fielder
Tony Socci each went 4-for-6 at the plate.Â
The Golden Knights plated 15 of their 17 runs in the first three innings of game two, with a three-run homerun by Socci playing the key part in a four-run first inning.
After Saint Rose had extended the advantage with three more runs in the second, things broke open in the top of third as the Golden Knights scored eight times to make it 15-0.Â

Jack McDonald all drove in runs to help fuel the big third inning, with the latter sending-run homerun out to right field as part of the rally.
The Panthers kept the action interesting with an eight runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning, however junior right-hander
Tom Cattaneo was able to come out the bullpen and settle things down to earn to win behind 5.0 innings of relief for the Golden Knights.
Following solo runs for Adelphi in the sixth and eighth innings, Socci and McDonald would each triple home a run in the top of the ninth to provide Saint Rose some insurance late.
Seven different Golden Knights recorded two or more runs in the victory, with Socci and McDonald leading the way with three each. Socci finished with five RBI, while McDonald also drove in four runs. Ward and Venditti registered three and two RBI, respectively.
Junior catcher
Michael Nazzaro knocked in all three runs scored by the Golden Knights in the 14-3 Panther triumph in the opener. Venditti and McDonald each logged two hits apiece for Saint Rose in the game one setback.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights next face Saint Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday in Sparkill, N.Y. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm in the non-conference tilt. Adelphi will remain home to welcome Jefferson to Garden City on Tuesday afternoon.
