MCPEAK'S GAME-WINNER WITH FOUR SECONDS LEFT COMPLETES 17-16 COMEBACK WIN AT #12 BENTLEY

WALTHAM, Mass.- Sophomore midfield Katy McPeak converted a free position shot with four seconds remaining in the fourth period to give The College of Saint Rose women's lacrosse team a 17-16 victory today at No. 12 Bentley today. McPeak's game-winner helped the Golden Knights complete the thrilling, come-from-behind victory after Saint Rose had faced a five-goal first half deficit on the road against the nationally-ranked Falcons.

After Bentley junior midfield Stephanie McAuliffe leveled the score at 16-16 with 0:57 left in the fourth, McPeak secured a critical ground ball on the ensuing draw control to led to her winning score in the closing seconds. For the Golden Knights, the final strike by McPeak closed a 5-2 scoring rally to close the fourth period.

Trailing throughout the entire afternoon, Saint Rose finally edged ahead for the first time on an unassisted goal by junior midfield Eileen Rattigan with three minutes remaining. Bentley had established an advantage that reached five goals in the middle of the second period, however the Golden Knights continued to chip away at that deficit until the Rattigan breakthrough.

Senior midfield Ashley Burns and sophomore attack Lauren Pendergast scored four times each to lead the Saint Rose attack. McPeak finished with three goals and five ground balls, while junior midfield Daria Bock tallied a pair of strikes, nine draw controls, and three caused turnovers.

In addition to Rattigan, the Golden Knights also received solo goals from junior midfield Deanna Ciliento, freshman attack Alex Tapia, and freshman midfield Eliza Barton. Junior goalie Dorothy Gaffney made nine saves in net for Saint Rose.

Junior midfield Caroline Affolter topped all scorers with five goals in the setback.

Next up, the Golden Knights will return home to welcome Franklin Pierce to Sullivan Field next Saturday at 11:00 am. Bentley will look to regroup with a 4:00 pm matchup at Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday.
