HILLBURN, N.Y.-The College of Saint Rose women's lacrosse team opened the 2023 season with a 21-18 victory today versus Dominican University. Sophomore attack
Lauren Pendergast netted a six goals in the road win for the Golden Knights, tying the Saint Rose program record for most goals scored in a single game.
After the Chargers opened the first quarter with a 4-2 lead, the Golden Knights would respond with 11 of the next 14 goals to close the first half up 13-7. Pendergast was the catalyst for Saint offensively in the first two quarters, as she netted five of her six goals in the opening 30 minutes of action.
The Golden Knights would build the advantage to eight as they entered the fourth quarter after scoring seven of the 12 goals in the third stanza. Junior midfield
Daria Bock provided Saint Rose two goals and two assists in the third, highlighting what would be a seven-point (fours goal, three assist) effort on the night for Bock.
Sophomore attack
Katy McPeak matched Bock with four goals and three assists, while senior midfield
Ashley Burns tallied three scores and five helpers. Junior midfields
Claudia Agostino and
Deanna Ciliento and freshman attacks
Eliza Barton and
Charlotte Taylor would each add solo goals as well for Saint Rose.
Sophomore attack Erica Ortiz notched seven goals to led Dominican.
Next up, Saint Rose welcomes Post University to Albany for the Golden Knights home-opener on Tuesday at 3:00 pm. Dominican returns to host District of Columbia at home on Saturday afternoon.
