NORTH EASTON, Mass.- The College of Saint Rose could not overcome a fast start by host Northeast-10 Conference rival Stonehill tonight in a game that pitted a pair of national ranked squads.
Â
The Skyhawks (8-2/6-1 NE10) scored 11 of the game's first dozen goals on the way to a 21-10 victory.
Â
Freshman attack
Katy McPeak scored five goals and set up two others, while sophomore midfielder
Daria Bock recorded a pair of goals, two assists, and three ground balls to lead Saint Rose (7-3/3-3 NE10), which had its three-game win streak snapped.
Â
Sophomore attack
Claudia Agostino, junior midfielder
Ashley Burns, and sophomore midfielder
Julia Lasher accounted for the other three Golden Knights strikes.
Â
Saint Rose got to within 12-6 by scoring four answered goals midway through the third quarter, but Stonehill responded with six straight to pretty much remove any doubt about the eventual outcome.
Â
Sophomore attack Molly Mae Hughes found the back of the cage seven times, while senior midfielder Emma Sullivan and junior attack Kayla Conway scored four apiece to pace the Skyhawks, who have won seven of their last eight and today announced their transition to Division I for the 2022-23 academic year.
Â
Looking ahead, both teams have conference dates Saturday. The Golden Knights head to Rindge, N.H. to meet Franklin Pierce, while Stonehill hosts #19 Saint Anselm at 2:00 pm.
Â
