SAINT ROSE COMES UP SHORT IN A PAIR OF TIGHT BATTLES WITH NE10-LEADING ADELPHI

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose was defeated 6-3 and 2-0 today in a pair of tight battles against Northeast-10 Conference-leading Adelphi at Cathy Haker Field.

Trailing 4-0 in the opener, the Golden Knights got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Freshman catcher Ellen Fuda provided the big hit in the frame for Saint Rose, driving in the freshman pair of left fielder Mattison Muller and third baseman Emma Schaub with a single up the middle. Sophomore Ciana Phillips raced around to score from first base on the same play after a miscue in the outfield by Adelphi.

The Panthers followed the Golden Knight rally with two more runs in the top of the fourth to extend the cushion to the winning margin of 6-3.

Lindsey Hibbs struck out seven of the 12 batters she faced in 3.1 innings of relief to earn the save for Adelphi.

Schaub and sophomore first basemen Madison Chandler each tallied two hits in game one for the Golden Knights (14-31/10-16 NE10).

Adelphi (39-11/22-4 NE10) completed the sweep after junior pitcher Claire Fon held Saint Rose to just two hits in the finale. Fon improved to 21-4 in the circle behind a seven strikeout, 7.0 inning shutout.

Redshirt freshman right fielder Courtney Wengryn went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Panthers in game two.

Golden Knights Golf Classic: The Golden Knights Golf Classic is set for Friday, June 10 at Pinehaven Country Club. Reunite with friends, teammates, alumni and supporters of the Golden Knights for a round of golf. All proceeds will directly benefit the 350-plus Saint Rose student-athletes. The success of the Golden Knights Golf Classic, as our primary department fundraising event, is contingent upon the generosity of friends, alumni, and others to participate in this year's event. Your financial support will enhance the intercollegiate experience for our student-athletes and allow our programs to stay on par with our NCAA Division II competitors in the ever-changing landscape of intercollegiate athletics.
