NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The College of Saint Rose dropped both ends of today's Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Southern Connecticut State as the host Owls won the opener 10-4 and took the finale 17-4. The games were originally scheduled to be played in Albany, but were moved to New Haven due to the poor weather conditions in the Capital Region.

Southern Connecticut State (15-4/2-1 NE10), which is receiving votes in both the NCBWA and the
Collegiate Baseball Magazine national polls, broke open a 4-2 ballgame in the opener by pushing across two runs in the fifth, three in the sixth, and another in the final and seventh inning.

The Golden Knights (8-13/1-2 NE10) added two more in the seventh.

Junior first baseman
Jack McDonald went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, while sophomore designated hitter
Nathan Toms finished 2-for-3 with an RBI double to lead Saint Rose.

Graduate student left-hander Nick Guarino allowed one earned run over the distance to improve to 6-0 on the year for the Owls.

In the finale, Southern Connecticut State scored four times in the first to put itself in control.

Six different players had one hit apiece for the Golden Knights, including Toms who drove in two runs.

Looking ahead, both teams have NE10 Southwest Division series ahead of them next weekend. Saint Rose travels to Springfield to visit American International, while the Owls host Le Moyne.
