ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose scored four times in the second half to earn a 5-1 win in tonight's Northeast-10 Conference championship semifinal contest against Saint Anselm. With the victory, the Golden Knights advance to the championship round of the NE10 tournament, where Saint Rose will face Adelphi in the title match on Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Field.
After the Hawks opened the scoring on a 35th-minute header by midfielder Olivia Gotobed, Saint Rose would respond with five unanswered goals to secure its third consecutive appearance in the conference postseason championship.
Junior forward Lauren Amerena tallied the first score for the Golden Knights, netting a strike just four minutes after the Saint Anselm score to bring the margin to 1-1 at halftime.
The Saint Rose offense would come out aggressive in the second half, with the Golden Knights receiving the go-ahead score by junior forward Kaelyn Britt 13 minutes into the frame to propel Saint Rose ahead 2-1.Â
Sophomore forward Mia Klammer struck next when she took a pass ahead from Britt and chipped the ball over Hawks keeper Kate Macaluso with 10:32 left. Freshman midfield Madelyn Wania and sophomore forward Olivia Boucher each added a goal  as well for Saint Rose in the final ten minutes.
Amerena, Britt, Klammer, and Wania each finished the match with one score and one assist in the victory.Â
Looking forward, Saint Rose will welcome Adelphi to the Plumeri Sports Complex for Sunday's championship tilt, with kickoff set for 2:00 pm.
Notes: With tonight's semifinal victory, Saint Rose earns its 11th appearance in NE10 championship, the second-most of any other conference member...The Golden Knights took the #6 ranking in this week's United Soccer Coaches National Poll…Saint Rose has outscored its 19 foes 51-10, including 28-4 in the first half, and has held an opponent to one goal or fewer throughout 18 of its 19 matches…In fact, the Golden Knights have allowed just ten goals all year…14 different players have found the back of the net for the Golden Knights this season.
