WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The College of Saint Rose was defeated in straight-sets (14-25, 13-25, 21-25) on the road at Northeast-10 Conference leader New Haven tonight.

Cassidy Smith and freshman middle blocker
Julia Cavalcanti led the Golden Knights with four kills each. Cavalcanti landed her attacks at a .375 strike percentage.
Freshman setter
Emma Strefling contributed 11 assists. The Golden Knights (3-8/0-2 NE10) struggled to find an offensive rhythm throughout the night and finished with a .012 hitting percentage as a team.
New Haven (8-5/2-0 NE10) took the opening set by winning 13 of the final 18 points. The Chargers finished set number two strongly once again, using a 10-4 rally to close out the second frame to go up 2-0.
Fighting to extend the match to a potential fourth frame, the Golden Knights edged to within one point, only trailing 14-15 in the middle stage of third set. New Haven responded with a six unanswered points to build the lead before ultimately taking the match victory behind a 25-21 final score in the third.
Freshman outside hitter Macy Brown paced the Chargers with 12 kills on a .360 average, three service aces, and three solo blocks. Entering tonight's match, Brown ranked third in the NE10 with 135 kills on the season. Freshman setter Sofia Leon-Taber registered a match-high 32 assists and senior outside hitter Jessica Akiona added 10 kills for New Haven.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose continues NE10 play at home on Tuesday when the Golden Knights face Pace University at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 pm. New Haven also returns to action on Tuesday, as the Chargers are scheduled to host Bridgeport at 7:00 pm.
