LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team, playing six rookies and sophomores in its nine-player rotation, posted an encouraging performance in tonight's 3-0 loss at Georgian Court. The young Golden Knights (0-2) fell to the runner-up in the Spring 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament by scores of 25-19, 25-10, 25-18.
Â
Underclassmen filled up the Saint Rose statistical leader board in the non-conference setback. Freshman middle hitter
Karleigh Fripp totaled seven kills, while sophomore setter
Valeria Jorge dished out nine assists. Jorge was one of five Golden Knights to record at least five digs.
Â
Junior outside hitter Kinsy Haschke topped Georgian Court (9-3) with 14 kills on .481 hitting. Junior setter Trilby Kite distributed 18 assists, while junior setter Faith Bennett registered a "double-double" of 10 assists and a like number of digs.
Â
The Lions got out to a quick 5-1 lead in the opening set. Saint Rose battled back forcing four ties midway through the frame, including at 19-19, before falling. After Georgian Court hit .385 to go up 2-0, the Golden Knights worked hard in an attempt to extend the match. Saint Rose led at five different points in the third set, but a 9-3 run by the hosts proved to be the difference.

Saint Rose currently only has a few closed scrimmages remaining on its spring slate. Any countable matches will be announced and publicized on our website.
