SAINT ROSE HANGS WITH NATIONALLY-RANKED PACE BEFORE FALLING 23-7

Golden Knights Trailed Just 10-6 at the Half


ALBANY, N.Y. –The College of Saint Rose stayed close with #24 Pace throughout the opening half, before falling 23-7 to the nationally-ranked visitors this afternoon at Sullivan Field.

The Golden Knights got off to a great start in their home opener, going up 3-1 just 6:03 into the Northeast-10 Conference matinee. Saint Rose continued to play the Setters, ranked #24 in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll, tight across the beginning 30 minutes, going into the break trailing just 10-6.

Sophomore midfielder Deanna Ciliento led the Golden Knights with three goals. She was one of seven Saint Rose players to record a point in the setback. Sophomore midfielder Eileen Rattigan added a goal and an assist, while freshman midfielder Daria Bock handed out a pair of helpers. In goal, freshman Dorothy Gaffney stopped 13 Pace shots.

The Setters (2-0/1-0 NE10) received seven goals and an assist from senior midfielder Carlyn Mucci.
 
Looking ahead, both teams have ranked opponents on deck. Saint Rose (0-2/0-2 NE10) visits #4 Le Moyne on Wednesday at 3:00 pm, while Pace is slated to host #15 New Haven next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
Saint Rose Notes: Ciliento leads the team with six goals...Gaffney ranks second in the NE10 with 22 saves.
Note on In-Person Attendance at Games: All games are subject to change based upon COVID-19 surveillance testing for both The College of Saint Rose and its opponents. In addition, per New York State Department of Health guidelines, no spectators at this point will be permitted to attend games scheduled for the Plumeri Sports Complex. The College will continue to monitor this situation with the hope of potentially allowing fans in some capacity at a later date.
