WOMEN'S LACROSSE FACES TOUGH TEST ON THE ROAD

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose women's lacrosse team traveled to Pace University this afternoon, falling 25-3 to a Setters team that sits at No. 23 in the most recent IWLCA national poll.

An aggressive start by Pace (1-1/1-0 NE10) produced two goals in the opening minutes of the game, before freshman midfielder Gabrielle Panko successfully converted a free position shot to cut to lead to 2-1. Saint Rose (1-3/0-2 NE10) would draw no closer as Pace would continue to control possession for much of the opening period, taking a 14-1 lead into halftime.

Panko put the Golden Knights on the board again midway through the second period with an unassisted strike. She led Saint Rose with five shots on the day. Freshman midfielder Deanna Ciliento added a goal with freshman attacker Alexis Farr contributing the assist.

Freshman defender Mackenzie Mahoney turned in a strong effort on the Saint Rose back end, leading the team with four caused turnovers. Freshmen goalie Madeline Yeung faced 40 shots from the Setters, making five saves. Yeung currently ranks second among NE10 goalkeepers with 33 saves on the year.

The Golden Knights return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Post University at Sullivan Field. The non-conference tilt is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm. Pace will travel to face Saint Michael's on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
