GOLDEN KNIGHTS RALLY FALLS SHORT AGAINST NE10 RIVAL STONEHILL

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 19 point early second half deficit to get to within five, but could not get any closer in today's 92-71 setback to visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Stonehill. The Skyhawks put five players in double-figures scoring and shot 55.0 percent (33-for-60) from the floor, including 52.9 percent (10-for-19) from long range, to win their third straight.

Junior guard Adam Anderson scored 17 of his 26 points in the second period to pace the Golden Knights (4-18/1-12 NE10). Freshman swing Cartier Bowman recorded his fourth "double-double" of the year behind 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Saint Rose trailed 55-36 in the opening minute of the second period when Anderson buried a pair from the line and freshman guard Manasseh Small finished a fast break off his own steal to spark the Golden Knights most proficient spurt. Senior guard Michael Wearne then scored in the paint, Bowman converted a run-out, and Anderson added a bucket to make it a 60-55 affair with 13:34 remaining.

However, Stonehill (13-8/9-4 NE10) rattled off nine of the game's ensuing 11 points to put itself back in control behind a 12 point, 69-57, advantage with 10:13 remaining. Saint Rose got no closer than 10 the rest of the way.

Senior guard Will Moreton finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds, and senior guard Brandon Twitty tossed in 14 to lead the Skyhawks.

Looking ahead, both squads have 7:30 pm home conference dates Wednesday. The Golden Knights host Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne for Blackout Night, while Stonehill entertains Bentley in North Easton, Mass. The first 750 fans at Wednesday's home doubleheader will receive a free t-shirt upon entry to show their Saint Rose Pride in the stands. There will also be an AirPod raffle at both contests and special games throughout the evening, along with a halftime ceremony honoring the Golden Knights women's soccer team.
