SAINT ROSE DELIVERS #350 TO LAURIE DARLING GUTHEIL

ALBANY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose manufactured a 20-9 shot advantage to deliver head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil her 350th victory behind tonight's 3-0 season-opening triumph against visiting Queens College. Darling Gutheil is now one of a mere 26 NCAA women's soccer coaches at any level to reach that milestone.
 
Senior midfielder Sanja Ratkovic provided what proved to be the game-winner with 8:01 gone by when she drove home her own rebound from inside the area. Thirty minutes later, senior forward Nina Predanic converted a penalty kick to afford the Golden Knights (1-0) a 2-0 halftime lead.
 
Saint Rose, which had eight first-year players see action, got its third strike from junior forward Ciera Lundy who finished a loft over the top from senior midfielder Eva Frazzoni at the 59:28 mark.
 
In goal, junior Marika Laurendeau registered four saves. Freshman Ariana Vargas turned aside four threats on target for Queens (0-1) at the other end.
 
Looking ahead, both sides get back on the pitch Sunday with non-league matches. The Golden Knights host Jefferson University at 12:00 pm, while Queens takes on Concordia at 2:00 pm.
