SAINT ROSE DROPS PAIR OF MATCHES THIS AFTERNOON


ERIE, Pa. - The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches on the final day of the Gannon-Edinboro Tournament.
 
The Golden Knights (6-6) began the afternoon with a 3-0 setback to Walsh. Senior outside hitter Stevie Schweitzer topped the Black and Gold with nine kills in defeat. Senior libero Tina Ceriello recorded 18 digs, while Allison Sellers dished out 11 assists. Freshman setter Valeria Jorge added ten helpers.

The Cavaliers (6-3), which hit .369 in the sweep, received 14 kills on .619 hitting from senior outside hitter Lauren Loucks. Junior outside hitter Hallie Schroeder had nine kills on .409 hitting and nine digs, while freshman setter Olivia Kearns tallied 34 assists and eight digs.

After trading close set wins to start the nightcap, Malone (5-8) got out to an 8-1 advantage to take the third frame. The Pioneers erased an early Saint Rose lead to wrap things up in four.

Schweitzer again led the Black and Gold offense, registering a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs. Jorge distributed 17 assists, while Ceriello had 18 digs.

Malone freshman right side Kalya Jarosz led all players with 17 kills on .517 hitting, while senior middle hitter Hannah Eliason added 11 kills on .476 hitting. Junior setter Elizabeth Selleny passed out 28 assists, and senior defensive specialist Sydney Black elevated 17 Saint Rose attacks.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights open Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday at Assumption. Fans unable to make it to Worcester, Mass. for the 7:00 pm start can watch the action on the NE10NOW Network.

Notes: Saint Rose, coming off its first postseason appearance since 2015, was picked ninth in the NE10 preseason coaches' poll…Ceriello was named the Conference's Libero of the Week on Tuesday…She began the week as the league leader with 165 digs and 6.60 digs per set… Junior middle hitter Kyla Archie entered the weekend with an NE10-best 1.12 blocks per set…She earned a spot on Tuesday's NE10 weekly honor roll.
