ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose could not overcome an 8-0, third inning deficit in today's 11-8 loss to visiting Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division rival Le Moyne. In the process, the Dolphins (19-19/10-8) ran their win streak to four games and took two-of-three in the season series to gain a point in the
Upstate Challenge rivalry series between the two schools.
Â
The Golden Knights (10-22/5-14 NE10) countered with a pair of runs in the third and three more in the fifth to make it an 8-5 ballgame. However, Saint Rose could not get any closer as the two squads exchanged a run the eighth and a pair in the ninth.
Â
Freshman designated hitter
Jack McDonald finished 4-for-5 with four RBI and a pair of doubles to lead the Saint Rose 17-hit attack. Senior first baseman
Nicolas Teitter continued to swing the lumber with authority by going 3-for-5 to raise his batting average to .352 (43-for-122) on the year, fifth best among the NE10 leaders. Senior left fielder
Kenny Fils-Aime wound up 3-for-6 and junior second baseman
Andrew Pedone reached base five times with a double, a pair of base hits and two walks.
Â
For Le Moyne, freshman second baseman Drew Carroll finished 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Â
Looking ahead, Saint Rose has its NE10 bye week in front of it, but will be in action with Sunday's non-league doubleheader vs. Bryant & Stratton at Schenectady Central Park's "A" Diamond. The opener is set for a noon start. Meanwhile, the Dolphins have a three-game NE10 Southwest Division series at American International.Â
